Horses

More than just a pet!

"At Storybook Farm, we believe in the transformative power of the human-horse bond. Our equine partners provide therapeutic benefits that can positively impact individuals of all ages. From building trust to fostering emotional connections, our horses offer a unique form of healing and companionship. Our Jr. Caretakers, aged 8-12, play a special role in caring for and loving our horses. Through their genuine affection and dedication, these young caretakers form deep bonds with our equine friends, learning valuable lessons in responsibility, empathy, and teamwork.

Each horse comes with its unique story. See their stories below

Asher Scout is a Tennessee Walking Horse who came to Storybook Farm from Florida. His previous owner, Erika, Loved him dearly and wanted to ensure he found a safe and loving forever home. We are so grateful she trusted him to us.

Although Asher Scout is not a rescue horse, he has already become a treasured part of the Storybook Farm family. Everyone who meets him is drawn to his kind, affectionate nature.

    Spirit

Spirit came to Storybook Farm in the Summer of 2024. After years of riding his owner no longer wanted him. Shortly after arriving he was diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease. Cushing’s can be controlled with daily medication, however he is more prone to infections or laminitis.

  • Panda

    Panda

Panda came to Storybook Farm in January, 2026. Upon arrival he was diagonised with DSLD (Degenerative Suspensory Ligament Desmitis). DSLD is a condition where the tissues meant to support a horse’s legs slowly lose their strength, causing the joints to sink and movement to become painful over time. Panda has this condition in both of his back legs.

While it’s difficult to predict his long-term outlook, with proper care and monitoring he can continue to live a comfortable and meaningful life.

Caring for a horse with special needs requires ongoing support.

  • Katy-Joy

In February of 2026, we welcomed Katy-Joy to Storybook Farm after the passing of her owner. During a time of transition, we were asked if we could provide her with a place to call home.

When Katy arrived, it became clear she was struggling with her coordination. She was later diagnosed with EPM, a condition that affects the nervous system.

Katy has started her costly medical treatment and we are praying for her stability to be restored. EPM is a serious condition and the success of the treatment is unknown.

Katy is hoping for a sponsor to support her in the road to recovery. She is a very sweet, gentle girl and would love to get to know you.
