Dogs at Storybook Farm
There are so many dogs who are abandoned and neglected because of a lack of awareness and resources among pet owners. Many individuals and families take on the responsibility of a dog without fully understanding the commitment involved. Economic hardships can also lead to difficult decisions, resulting in pets being surrendered to shelters or left on the streets.
Additionally, some breeds may attract more attention for their looks rather than their compatibility with a person's lifestyle. This impulse adoption often leads to challenges that owners are unprepared to handle. Irresponsible breeding practices contribute to the problem, as dogs are often bred for profit rather than for the health and temperament suited to a family environment.
At Storybook Farm, we are a forever home to dogs who have previously been abandoned or discarded. We do not discriminate based on breed or care needs. Some of our dogs need regular grooming which can be expensive and cumbersome but we open our doors regardless.
Meet “Dibbie’s Darlings”!
The dogs at Storybook Farm are called Dibbie's Darlings in honor of Beth's mom, Dibbie.
Dibbie ALWAYS had a dog and supported the dog rescue community for years. Now that she is in a retirement community she is unable to have a dog. She happily supports one of the dogs at Storybook Farm and is able to visit with her frequently.

Bandit
Bandit was in his 2nd home and then his owners divorced. The wife did not want him and although the Dad, he travel for his job. This poor thing was in a cage ALL DAY LONG while he traveled.
His nose was scratched up from trying to get out when he came to us. We think he is an Australian /shepherd mix and LOVES to run and play. He is 3 years old, we think.

Sadie Mae
Sadie Mae came to Storybook Farm from the Triad Golden Retriever Rescue. She spent her life producing puppies. As soon as her years of birthing puppies was over, she was discarded. No longer needed. Loved only for what she could produce. Living most of her life in a cage was NO life at all. Sadie is happy, playing in the back yard with her friends, terrorizing the cats and giving LOTS of hugs. She just wants TO love and BE loved.

Scooter
Scooter found wandering in a creek (in Summerfield, NC) with another dog after hurricane Helene had blasted through NC. Our dog groomer said he was matted beyond a simple hair cut, so he had to be shaved down to his skin to rehabilitate his coat. He had most likely run a long way.
We put up social media post and no one wanted him. So, we brought him home! We saw how FAST he could run and play, thus naming him Scooter.

Happy
Happy came to Storybook Farm after her original owner passed away. Unfortunately, she was left behind in the home for over six months and was unrecognizable when she was discovered.
The groomer did her magic, and the vet updated her on all the missed vaccinations. Happy was an indoor dog who never had the freedom to run outside and play. Despite being 11 years old, she now runs across the backyard chasing her Storybook friends.

Bella
Bella was rescued from the homeless community. She was forced to have puppies so they could be sold for cash. She is a super sweet girl and happy to join the pack at Storybook Farm.
